The Start Of Something Not So New | Week 1

31st August- 6th September 2015

School has started again. My last year of secondary school. 6th year.

Of course we got the standard “blah blah blah so many days ’till the Leaving Cert blah blah” talk. So what if the leaving cert is 39 weeks and 2 days away?

I’m not going to get stressed about anything. I’ll do my work and and do everything to the best of my ability. Yes, I’ll admit that last year I could have worked more consistently but no, I do not regret any second of it. I have a tendency not to regret certain things that easily. It happened because it happened. Learn from it and move on. Use the negatives to your advantage and make them positives.

I’ve decided to commit to one blog post a week. In a way I’ll be documenting my last year of secondary school, including the relative school related things as well as the non school related rudaí. As I mentioned in one of my recent videos I will not be uploading as frequently this year unless I actually have a good, solid video idea. From experience, my brain doesn’t seem to be as creative and capable of thinking of video ideas during the school year.

I feel as if I understand stuff more this year. I’ve been having several eureka moments the past week when in certain classes and whilst doing homework. That happy feeling of finally understanding something that appeared so complicated. I am genuinely motivated to study this year, in the most strange way ever I even find it slightly relaxing. I am someone who can either put their head down and get to work or I can procrastinate for hours, days and weeks. I want to succeed in life and even though I completely disagree with the education system I’ve come to the realisation that I’ll have to go along with it whether I like it or not.

Besides all this school related stuff, I have a strong desire to go on a stationary shopping spree. I’m not sure if that’s a thing or not but it’s what I want to do. The thing is, I could buy the nicest pens and notebooks but I’ll more than likely never use them. It’ll be years after the date of purchase before I ever look at them again. Please tell me that I’m not the only one?

I’ve become rather forgetful the past while which is slightly concerning. I went out the other day with the intention of buying a certain book and I came back with several books but not the one that I had intended to buy. I genuinely completely forgot about it. It’s a good thing that the Internet exists and that I can order it online. That way I can’t forget it, or can I?

This year is going to consist of balance. Getting the right balance between school, hobbies, social life and whatever else I do.

Balance: noun

“A situation in which different elements are equal or in the correct proportions”.

This year will also be an interesting year. It’ll be the end of an era, as well as the start of new beginnings. I find it funny to think how much people change within a year. I’ll probably read this back in 10 months time and cringe. I know that I’ve most definitely changed since this time last year. And so be it. There’s nothing wrong with change.

I could blabber on more but I’d be blabbering for the sake of blabbering. Lets see what the next 168 hours bring me.

Don’t Be A Sheep, Be Unique.

“Rudaí”: Irish for “things”.

  1. […] I used to make YouTube videos quite frequently (ish) but with exams and all the other things I do, I felt like I wouldn’t have time to film, edit and upload videos as often this year. Therefore I started blogging (first post) without knowing what I was going to blog about until I started this series type of thingy called The End Of An Era. […]
